Dice Cricket

We played dice cricket.Nz vs Aus . Nz got thirty one runs and Aus got thirty one.  Sasha played as Nz. Bella played Aus. Ava was the empire.To get runs you had to roll the dice.If you rolled a five your out.

Learning about the Chinese Zodiac

Today we learnt about the Chinese New Year. Allen and Leo shared the story of the monster who doesn't like the colour red. We watched a video about how the rat became the first animal of the Chinese zodiac. Then we wanted to find out about about our own Chinese zodiac. This ended up in a maths lesson because many of us didn't know what year we were born in! We're now making lanterns to display in the hall as we will celebrate Chinese New Year as a school community on Friday.

Readers Theatre

Today we broke in to small groups and used Puppet Pals to act out parts of our shared book Fantastic Mr Fox. We had lots of fun learning how to use the Puppet Pals app. We used a mixture of ourselves as puppets and characters from the story that we had coloured in.

Making Connections

Last week the Tio Community got in to groups and had to look around the school for questions to answer about their groups. The questions were to help them connect as a group and consider the values we wanted to have represented by our team name. One question was to have a photo taken showing a connection between the group. It was a great morning.

Our Class Treaty

Last week during Circle Time we talked about some values we wanted to put in place to ensure our classroom was a safe, happy and fun place to be. We discussed different ideas and then agreed on what was most important. This will be our treaty for the year. We will all sign it to show we agree to live by these values in Room 17.

100 Word Challenge - Leo and Zander

I was on a plane at night time. Everyone was asleep except me. Last time lots of men were snoring but this time the silence was deafening. Then I put my earphones on and watched a movie. Suddenly the sun came out. I saw land. A baby burst out crying. Lots of people woke up just then. It became noisy again and the silence was gone. The plane was about to land at Sydney airport. When I looked out the window I saw something like snow but it was actually clouds. There was a big bumpy, thumpy noise. We landed.

100 Word Challenge - Ava and Sasha

Suddenly I flew up to heaven. The silence was deafening. Then I saw Jesus and looked over my shoulder. I had gorgeous angel wings. Next I started to fly around heaven with my beautiful wings. When I started flying I saw some extinct animals. They were amazing creatures. I started going higher and higher, finally I reached God. Then I saw Mary with a pale blue cloak around her. Up in heaven there were beautiful waterfalls and sunsets. There were so many fruit trees such as cherries, watermelons and oranges. There were also loads of veges like carrots and lettuces.

100 Word Challenge - Samuel and Bella

We started the 100 word challenge this week. Every week we get a new prompt and have to write a story with 100 words. As this was our first go at it, we wrote in pairs. The prompt was ...the silence was deafening... We talked about what this meant and then went away to write our stories. Those pairs who managed to write 100 words read their writing to class. We then voted on the two best stories. Congratulations to Bella and Samuel, and Ava and Sasha. Zander and Leo's story was voted the Teacher's Choice. We'd love you to leave a comment on our 100 word challenge writing!

I was bouncing on the moon high and quietly. Then I heard a stomp. It was a green monster. I started to run as fast as I could. Then I dropped in to a deep, dark hole. The silence was deafening. One hour later I was looking for a rocket. Then I saw some metal pieces. I thought I could make a spaceship but there wasn't the right material to make a spaceship. So instead I made a jet pack. The jet pack was red and orange. Then I flew to Earth. I arrived at my home safely and quietly.
