Mini Maths Teachers

Last week the Room 17 students planned their own maths lessons to teach one another. They could do it on their own or in pairs. Today 5 groups are being taught. We have Zander teaching how to order 3-digit numbers, Samuel and Zachary are doing addition to 30, Isabel and Simone are doing 5x tables, Shyam and Aidan are working on how to add decimals and Grace is teaching her group about fractions. They are using Kahoot, games, equipment, worksheets and whiteboards to deliver their teaching!

Doodle for Google

Room 17 have been working hard on their Doodle for Google entries. This is a competition to design a new Google logo. The theme this year was ...'if I could go back in time.' Everyone did an amazing job but we could only send away a few for the competition. Here are our R17 winners! Can you tell where in time they'd go back to?

Homelearning Challenge

Home learning for the last week of term 2 was to pick and choose activities from a Hot Units grid. It was based around traditional tales. Students could do as many of the different activities as they wanted, and included different levels of Blooms Taxonomy. Here's some photos of the different activities.

100WC - Samuel's Entry

My heart is beating. A huge black hawk swooped down. I was frightened like a kiwi. I was screaming HELP! The hawk stopped and dropped his head at me. I tried to climb down the trunk but sadly the hawk help me with his sharp, yellow beak. I was confused to see it took me to it's nest and looked after me. Then all four egg's cracked. I tried to jump down, but I rolled down and finally I got down. I was worried that I would get caught so I ran to my house and said "phew"!

Teach Me Tuesday - Rebecca and Samuel

We had our first Teach Me Tuesday lessons last week. Rebecca taught us how to draw cats and Samuel showed us how to make ninja stars. We're learning how to listen carefully to our teachers so that we can learn from them!

Anzac Home Learning

Last weeks hands-on homework was to learn about Anzac in any you wanted. Room 17 chose to write poems, draw pictures, bake Anzac biscuits, go to dawn services and lots more. Alex made an amazing diorama of a battle field. Room 17 are such motivated learners!

100 Word Challenge - Samuel and Bella

We started the 100 word challenge this week. Every week we get a new prompt and have to write a story with 100 words. As this was our first go at it, we wrote in pairs. The prompt was ...the silence was deafening... We talked about what this meant and then went away to write our stories. Those pairs who managed to write 100 words read their writing to class. We then voted on the two best stories. Congratulations to Bella and Samuel, and Ava and Sasha. Zander and Leo's story was voted the Teacher's Choice. We'd love you to leave a comment on our 100 word challenge writing!

I was bouncing on the moon high and quietly. Then I heard a stomp. It was a green monster. I started to run as fast as I could. Then I dropped in to a deep, dark hole. The silence was deafening. One hour later I was looking for a rocket. Then I saw some metal pieces. I thought I could make a spaceship but there wasn't the right material to make a spaceship. So instead I made a jet pack. The jet pack was red and orange. Then I flew to Earth. I arrived at my home safely and quietly.
