We had two fabulous presentations today. Ava taught us how to sing Happy Birthday in Polish and Zander taught us facts about the author Dav Pilkey and how to make a Flip-O-Rama!

Yesterday we found out that Kaelyn's 100WC entry had been picked for the showcase! It's a fabulous achievement as around 2000 students from around the world enter each week and only a handful of students get picked. Congratulations Kaelyn, your writing is outstanding!

I was in my bed then suddenly when I looked out the window the cold rain was pouring down from the sky. I said to myself "what will I do today? I'm stuck inside." I went to go and get some popcorn to cheer myself up but the ferocious wind kept on going on and on. Boom boom went the wind. "I'm scared," I said. So I went to do some painting. What shall I draw? Then I had an idea to make a storm picture. It was beautiful but the ferocious wind kept on blowing and blowing. What happens if a tree falls down?

I was watching the Simpsons when suddenly I screamed like a baby girl. All I heard was the terrifying storm. When I went back to watch tv, I sat down with banana popcorn but the ferocious wind gave me such a fright, that I spilt my popcorn. It smelt like a raccoon fart. I looked out of my window. I am so heavy. When I was walking across the path I saw a tornado. I said "who cares." I was never scared of tornadoes. I walked towards the tornado. When I was a little closer to the tornado, I ran straight into it but the ferocious wind couldn't hold me. I was too heavy. I punched and kicked the tornado. It suddenly stopped. "Yay," I shouted but it started again. The tornado was trying so hard, it only lifted me up 3cm. I was laughing so hard that my head fell off. I picked up my head and stuck it back on with tape.

I was in my bed when suddenly my window flung right open. The rain flew in. Suddenly a noisy siren went off. Aaa, the siren means get to high cover because a tsunami was coming. My parents came running as fast as a flash of lightning. "What's happening?" I said. "Can't explain now," but the ferocious wind nearly lifted me up. When we got to higher ground, dad explained. "Well a tsunami is coming. We need to get to high ground otherwise we would drown or get pulled out to sea." "What, no, our house will be destroyed or swept out to sea!"

Boom! Boom! The Spikebomb shot a torpedo at Knifewing. It shot him in the head. Spikebomb got out his sharp sword and cut off all of Knifewings arms. Spikebomb shot another torpedo and it hit the Skytower. The Skytower flipped over and struck Knifewings back then...Spikebomb got out his five swords and cut Knifewing. Book Week Fun

Last week was Book Week at UHPS. We really got our read on! The school bell was changed to a song about reading, Mrs Thorburn would surprise up over the speaker with 'Stop, Drop and Read' and we made posters about reading. A couple of highlights were our Read To sessions. We skyped Kaelyn's grandparents in Michigan, USA and they read us a story. We used Google Hangouts to read to and for Room 8 and next week Tamatea Intermediate School in Napier are going to read to us. On Friday we dressed up as a book character. Book Week was so much fun!

100WC - Samuel's Entry

My heart is beating. A huge black hawk swooped down. I was frightened like a kiwi. I was screaming HELP! The hawk stopped and dropped his head at me. I tried to climb down the trunk but sadly the hawk help me with his sharp, yellow beak. I was confused to see it took me to it's nest and looked after me. Then all four egg's cracked. I tried to jump down, but I rolled down and finally I got down. I was worried that I would get caught so I ran to my house and said "phew"!

As night time drew nearer, the hawk was hovering above the tree stump with narrow eyes. It landed on a twig without a creak, everything was silent. Sarah froze still her big, black eyes on the hawk. Even the birds stopped chirping. Pitter, patter, pitter, patter. It had begun. The tragic thunderstorm was going. The hawk fluttered off the twig and swooped down with it's beak open. Sarah inched forward, the hawk landed with a thump! Just mm from the Sarah's head. Sarah ran for her life. The maniac hawk followed. But what the hawk didn't know was that Sarah had back-up.

"What am I doing on this useless log?" I said. Suddenly though a massive tree an emu flew at me. I said "Who cares". Ahhhh it's an emu. His foot is smelling like a trout and his foot is massive. I want to fight him but he just slapped me on the face with his toe. I didn't die because I was lego. I rang a human that I didn't know and he built me again. When he fixed me I weed on his hand. I built myself a black skateboard but when I tried it I fell off the tree.

Teach Me Tuesday - Shyam and Kaelyn

This week we learnt how to draw Pikachu and how to train puppies. Shyam took us through the drawing step-by-step. Kaelyn gave us information about how to look after a puppy then we went outside and did some training with her puppy Roxxi.

The tale of Apple White

One dark night in an enchanted castle lived a graceful girl called Apple White. She was getting ready for a mysterious night walk through the Evermore Forest. She opened the silver fancy gates. Then she started to sing while she was skipping along the emerald bridge. Her legs started to ache so she stopped and stared at a cottage that had a moony light shining on it, so she decided to have a tiny peek inside. Apple saw a beautiful, soft bed so she flung the door open and ran to the bed and flopped on it. She loved it.

Once upon a time there lived a half human, half cow. He lived in a big house in Wellington. One day Mr Cow was chomping on some grass when he let out a loud fart.It went "ppppprrpp" and it smelt just like beans. Suddenly, an enormous, very tall beanstalk was growing up to the clouds. Mr Cow decided to climb up it so he could see what was at the top. "I wonder if there is more grass at the top?" he said. When he reached the top, he let out a gasp. We had our first Teach Me Tuesday lessons last week. Rebecca taught us how to draw cats and Samuel showed us how to make ninja stars. We're learning how to listen carefully to our teachers so that we can learn from them!
